Paddy Aubrey, AMFT
I believe that the work of therapy needs to be done in an atmosphere of safety, intelligence, warmth and humor.
I am a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT #141201) and work with people from adolescence to adulthood, struggling with a range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, loss, anger, loneliness, relationship problems, or simply feeling stuck. Together, we can identify patterns of thoughts and behaviors that have become problematic or painful.
A long long time ago I was an undergraduate getting my Bachelor of Arts degree from Skidmore College. Since then, I have spent my adulthood working in Los Angeles. I spent a decade working in the entertainment industry and a second decade owning and operating restaurants. I then went on to earn my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Phillips Graduate Institute. My graduate research project examined the effects of attachment trauma on the family system, a theme that I have seen quite a few times in my work as a therapist.
I began my training at California Family Counseling Center, where I worked with teens, individuals, couples and families. I supplemented that work as an in person therapist for teens at James Jordan Middle School, where I realized an inclination towards working with teens. I am currently certified in Emotionally Focused Couple’s Therapy (EFT), Trauma-Focused CBT and Psychedelic Integration. I am currently working towards certification in Mindfulness CBT and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
